ASBMT Selects Andre Williams as New Executive Director
ASBMT is pleased to announce that we have completed the selection process for ASBMT's new executive director. Following a thoughtful review process, ASBMT leadership has unanimously selected Andre Williams to serve as executive director effective July 1.
Andre brings substantial knowledge, skills, and experience to ASBMT from his career serving as executive director of both clinician and translational science organizations. He also has a deep understanding of healthcare reimbursement, having served most recently as the executive director for the Healthcare Business Management Association (HBMA). He has provided oversight for several medical professional associations in the past, has served on several boards, and brings a depth of knowledge in strategic planning, government relations, financial management and operations. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.
Andre's breadth of healthcare policy and education experience will be an asset in overseeing all aspects of ASBMT's operations, leading the staff team, and meeting the Society's strategic goals. Andre officially started as executive director on July 1 and has been meeting with the ASBMT executive committee, staff and key partners throughout the transition period.
Andre is eager to begin his service to ASBMT and has expressed his personal motivation and connection to fulfilling our Society's mission. Please join us in giving Andre Williams a warm welcome to ASBMT.
ASBMT Communications Upgrades
ASBMT is enhancing some of our email communications in an effort to better organize the association news, research studies and updates members receive:
- The Cellular Scoop: This new twice-per-month newsletter includes the latest information on upcoming events (both for ASBMT and partner organizations), member benefits and timely industry updates.
- ASBMT eNews: Beginning in August, all stories and features within ASBMT eNews will be housed on ASBMT’s website and fully accessible through the newsletter email you receive. You’ll no longer need the extra step of downloading the full PDF. Plus, the new format will be mobile-friendly, so you can access eNews on any mobile device while you’re on the go. eNews will focus on highlighting important clinical research and translational science studies while still including important updates from the ASBMT President, SIGs, Committees and partners.
We hope these changes make receiving and accessing ASBMT information more convenient and accessible.
July 2018 ASBMT Monthly Self-Directed Learning Quiz
On behalf of the ASBMT Committee on Education, we are pleased to continue our monthly self-directed learning quiz "Basic Principles and Practices of Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation and Cell Therapy – Question and Answer Approach” for fellows in training, highlighting HCT and cell therapy topics. Answers to each question appear with evidence-based “non-exhaustive” peer-review commentary. Our aim is to provide you with a credible and freely available educational resource. Questions were generated and reviewed by Syed Abutalib, M.D., Mark R. Litzow, M.D., and William A. Wood, M.D.
